Nintendo President Responds To GTA 6 On Nintendo Switch 2 Rumor

The GTA 6 Nintendo Switch 2 release could help the title reach more players if it launches on the console. But the Nintendo of America president, Devon Pritchard, doesn’t have any updates to share about the game’s release on the console.

But she did talk about her point about the GTA 6 Switch 2 release during the interview with Variety, covered on October 9, 2026.

In an interview with The Variety on October 9, Pritchard was asked whether their Switch 2 can accommodate the upcoming title by Rockstar Games. Her response left the possibility of a port release unanswered and shifted the decision to the games’ parent companies, Take-Two and Rockstar Games.

Pritchard said, “That’s going to be a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time,” in reply to the question asked during the interview with Variety.

From her comments, we cannot confirm the GTA 6 Switch 2 version development. Also, it doesn’t confirm Rockstar and Take-Two are discussing a port release for their title anytime soon.

Pritchard’s comments on GTA VI came during her interview with Variety about Nintendo’s plans for Switch 2, third-party collaborations, and their upcoming projects.

Variety noted that the Switch 2 can host strong, hardware-demanding games like GTA 6. Its latest console comes with advanced graphics and processing power when compared to the original Switch, and its upcoming lineup includes releases from other publishers.

But from the interview, Variety noted the console can run demanding games, but the company hasn’t mentioned GTA 6 as part of its console release.

When asked about GTA 6, she didn’t confirm the Switch 2 release, nor did she mention any deal with Rockstar. She passed the decision to Take-Two and Rockstar and had nothing to announce from her side.

For now, the GTA 6 release for Nintendo Switch 2 remains unconfirmed. Rockstar Games has announced the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for the November 19 release. For now, there’s no official statement from the company about the PC or Switch 2 release.

So, the decision now depends on Take-Two and Rockstar on whether to release their game on Switch 2 or not. As far as the hardware is concerned, the Nintendo Switch 2 is compatible with such high-quality games, as confirmed by Devon Pritchard in her interview.

Few of the early reports discussed the possibility of the Switch 2 port. Rockstar’s former developer, Jérémy Hartvick, questioned whether such a release would make commercial or technical sense.

His comments were the personal assessment and do not reflect Rockstar’s plans for the title. Pritchard’s remarks did not rule out or confirm a port either.

What This Means For GTA 6 Fans

According to Devon Pritchard’s interview, there’s no announcement for the GTA 6 Switch 2 release.

As Pritchard directed the question towards Rockstar and Take-Two, players should wait for an official confirmation from the company and consider PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as the official consoles supporting GTA 6 at the time of release.
