GTA 6 To Feature Over 170 Species, Confirms Game Informer

GTA 6 will feature over 170 animal species across land, air, and sea, according to the September 29 Rockstar Cover story by Game Informer. Several of these species have never appeared in a Rockstar game before, and the identities of the rarest animals are still kept hidden.

Marcus Stewart from Game Informer reports that the wildlife is meant to faithfully reflect Florida, the real-life inspiration for the Leonida state.

According to VICE, there are a total of 60+ types of birds and over 30 land mammals, along with reptiles, fish, and other secret animals in the upcoming GTA title.

As per the report, native Florida animals like flamingos, manatees, pelicans, and alligators are confirmed for GTA 6. These animals will share the space with some unique species, including green iguanas, feral cats, cane toads, and rhesus macaque monkeys.

Rockstar’s Michael Kane stated that their team wanted to include the Florida state ecosystem across rural and urban areas, inland and ocean waters, and wetlands like the Swamps and Everglades.

Another major update by Game Informer comes about the visual update of the animals. The magazine says that they’ll show iridescence, bioluminescence, translucency, and different feather types, along with new hair and fur systems for the animals.

According to the latest report on GTA 6 animals and wildlife by GamingBolt, Rockstar says the fur can catch dirt and mat or clump, including when it’s wet.

Some of the animals can be tracked in the gameplay and can fall into the Rare, discoverable, and Legendary categories as per Game Informer’s report. But the identities of such animals are still kept secret by the magazine.

What Rockstar hasn’t said about GTA 6 wildlife and animals

We do know that over 170 species are confirmed for the upcoming Rockstar title, along with native Florida animals and a new hair and fur system, but there is something that the developers haven’t commented on yet.

The following are the things Rockstar Games hasn’t spoken about regarding GTA 6 Wildlife:

• The full species list.
• Which animals will be rare, discoverable, and legendary.
• Hunting, crafting, or reward systems for tracked animals.
• How the tracking categories work in gameplay.

One thing is for sure: GTA 6 animals and wildlife will be way better than GTA 5. But it will be important to see if they can build a system identical to Red Dead Redemption 2’s animals.
